More Practice for Team India at Osijek


Mixed Team Pistol and Rifle events and  Rifle Prone added to MQS roster

New Delhi, Tuesday, May 25, 2021:The Osijek, Croatia, based Indian Olympic Pistol and Rifle team, will get more quality competition-like practice at the on-going European Championship Shooting competition there, after it was decided that they would be Shooting the Minimum Qualification Score (MQS) round in the Mixed Team and Rifle Prone events as well. Originally, they were scheduled to participate in the individual Olympic events only.

The Mixed Team events are scheduled on Wednesday of this week, while the Rifle Prone events take place on Thursday. In the Mixed Team events, Indian shooters would be able to shoot only one of three rounds but as the coaches put it, “any practice at this level is good practice.”

Meanwhile the team had Pre-event Training scheduled on Tuesday.

In their first MQS outing on Monday, where Shooters compete for official scores but not for finals qualification and medals, the Indian Team continued to give a good account of themselves, when as many as five of the 10 Shooters on show, putting up scores that would have taken them to the regular finals, while Pistol Shooter SaurabhChaudhary, topped the Regulars and MQS combined qualifying leader board by a full three points, shooting 589 out of a possible 600 in the Men’s 10M Air Pistol.
